Gongdee Gallery

Chiang Mai

Gongdee is an iconic brand of Chiang Mai.  Founded by a local artist, Vichit Chalwongse, who was able to fulfil his desire to be both creative and productive.

His furniture designs feature innovative use of materials, interesting designs, and bright colours.  This now extends to many other products made by Gongdee. The emphasis is on mood, colour, quality and comfort – in no particular order.

There are paintings, decorated wall panels, mirrors and other objects of art, adding to the unique style – which is Gongdee.

Gongdee is also more than just a shop. It has been a haven for local residents and Chiang Mai travellers, to simply sit and enjoy the garden terrace, read and listen to music, or to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in serenity.

Our patrons come back year after year to capture the individuality of Gongdee and it’s friendly staff.

Gongdee provides work for many small manufacturers in the Chiang Mai and surrounding districts, producing furniture in teak, redwood, bamboo, coconut and other native woods of Thailand. Ornaments made of  mango wood are produced by small craft shops. The application of gold and silver leaf is a Gongdee speciality.

Our clients live all over the world, and our products can be seen in hotels, spas, resort, houses and apartments of the highest standards.

Special projects are supported via Gongdee shops in Chiang Mai and Bangkok

Products such as cotton bags, crochet coasters and placemats, felt Christmas stockings, cotton mats and simple items, are made in provincial villages using basic materials which are found in nature.
